The data breach of Psychotherapy Center Vastaamo has raised questions

Nordea Finance’s credit services are safe to use

Our customers do not need to worry about any misuse of Nordea’s or Nordea Finance’s services, as they always require strong authentication.

The use of online banking codes and making payments involve several security factors, which makes them safe. You don’t need to take any steps to secure your banking details. We always require strong authentication when you apply for new finance, a credit card or hire-purchase car finance, or use Nordea Finance’s online services, such as OmaLuotto.

As things stand at present, any data that is directly related to banking, such as account numbers, passwords or credit card numbers, have not been leaked in connection with the Vastaamo data breach.

However, we recommend that the victims of the data breach monitor their payment and account transactions. You can find instructions on what to do if your data was stolen on the Finnish Police websiteOpens new window. Help and advice for victims are also available at tietovuotoapu.fiOpens new window. Follow the latest information and instructions from the authorities to stay up to date on the case.

Temporary amendment to the Finnish Consumer Protection Act

The legislation regarding consumer credit and credit cards has been amended temporarily due to the coronavirus situation. This temporary amendment will affect the direct marketing of consumer credit and the interest rate of other types of consumer credit besides goods-or-services-related credit. The amendment will be in force until the end of 2020.

Subject to the temporary interest rate cap provision applicable to consumer credit, the interest rate may be 10% at maximum. The 10% interest rate cap does not apply to goods-or-services-related credit and credit cards, which have been excluded from the amendment.

Similarly, the fees charged on consumer credit will remain unchanged.
